If you want cross save on your switch but don't want to lose your PC account, you'll have to make a new "burner" PC account with another e-mail, then you can link to that instead. Your original PC account will remain separate.

They're treating cross save accounts as an entirely unique platform from my understanding, so you can only trade with other cross save accounts. Needless to say, this is one of the worst decisions I have ever seen them make, and I sincerely hope it's simply a technical issue that will be getting worked on.
