If you are at level 7 I believe you get all the parts back; but if only at level 2 or 3 you may only get about 1/3rd or 1/2 of the raw materials back. GenerikB ( a youtuber who's currently doing a Lets Play) has a huge raft around 7x6 and it has flipped a few times. so it would take Alot of bases to make it unflippable. And a side note, the bigger the raft is, it will be harder to steer and turn. Make sure the barrels are as close together as possible. You can actually start the build from anywhere.
